5 FUN CARDIO / LIFESTYLE ACTIVITIES TO DO THIS SUMMER

Not everyone enjoys running, especially in the summer weather.

But no worries, it’s not the only cardio you can do, did you know cardio can be fun?

That’s why we’re here, to show you ways you can actually enjoy cardiovascular fitness.

1 OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

If you want to make the most of the summer weather you could try:

Walking: Do we need to say more? Your dog will thank you. Or your neighbor’s dog…?

Hiking: Alone, with friends, siblings, partner or with your dog! This is a very flexible activity you can make fun many ways. It’ll also encourage you to discover cool places and stay in touch with nature. This activity will increase muscle power and strength, take it easy if you haven’t done this before or don’t exercise much since you’ll be working muscles that aren’t often used when running on flat ground.

Stair Sprints: This is an activity you can to pretty much anywhere. Just find a set of stairs and maybe a partner to challenge yourself, meet 2 or 3 times a week and smash those stair sprints.

Run up the stairs for 30 seconds to a minute and recover while walking down. Repeat for 10 to 30 minutes.

2 INDOOR ACTIVITIES

On the other hand, if you are not a fan of the heat or sun and you just want some ideas to spice up your indoor cardio training we also have some ideas for you:

Jump rope: This is an amazing exercise for cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, and coordination. You don’t need much space plus ropes are pretty cheap.

Also, you can so at many different speeds and there is always room to challenge yourself, did you know you can burn 3 times more than walking on a treadmill?

Circuit training: Is cardio gets boring for you since it’s often the same exercise for long periods of time we suggest you try HIIT or circuit training, here are some examples for you to do:

3 BIKE, ROLLERBLADING, SKATING…

Grabbing you bike or your line skaters instead of your car to go places can be your cardio! You can even pack your in-line skates if you are going on holiday and use them to discover the city!

4 SWIMMING OR WATER ACTIVITIES

Swimming is one of the most complete sports, are you enjoying your pool or beach days? Go swim for 5 minutes every hour you are there. And even if you don’t like strict swimming and prefer a playful activity you can play Marco polo or any pool game, walking under water and getting in and out the pool will work as cardio!

Also, there are many water sports to try! Surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, jet skiing, kitesurfing, rowing, paddleboarding, wakesurfing, snorkeling… the list goes on and on! Nowadays there are a bunch of adult camps, don’t let your age be an impediment and have fun!

And last but not least; have you tried going to a water park? This often burns many calories! You are either walking or swimming.

5 ACTIVITIES WITH FRIENDS – LIFESTYLE ACTIVITIES

Set free your inner child and meet with friends to be active and do fun things!

If you met to go to the beach instead of laying in the sun, get in the water and play volleyball, go hiking together, meet to do sprint races, grab your bikes and discover new cafes you usually don’t go to because they’re “far away” or even wander around the city and discover new cafes or book some escape room experience… Being active is what matters.

When in the summertime we usually so crazy from exhausting ourselves at the gym to lay down for hours watching Netflix. Balance is important, you thought this article is strictly cardio activities? Yes well, it is but don’t lose perspective here, if you are not feeling like it is better for you to meet a friend and walk somewhere to get coffee than laying in your couch binging the newest Netflix series.
