Do I need to buy organic?

That is a question we all ask ourselves at some point. Truth be told, we wish we could buy always organic because no one likes to eat contaminated veggies with pesticide residues . right?

Reality is that it’s actually quite expensive  and not everyone can afford to always eat 100% organic… In today’s blog post we share some things that are better to buy organic and others that it doesn’t matter that much.

We are now looking at the Environmental Working Group (EWG) 2018 lists for the US to see which of conventionally grown produce fruits and veggies are contain the most, and the least chemical pesticides.

Ok, but why?

Certain pesticides have been shown to have negative effects on human and environmental health. In fact the latest research out of Harvard University found that women undergoing fertility treatment who reported eating two or more servings per day of produce with higher pesticide residues were 25 percent less likely to have a successful pregnancy that the ones who ate fewer servings. So especially if you are pregnant or have kids it’s better for you to check the dirty dozen list and try to go for an organic version of those foods.

For example; the average strawberry sampled tested positive for a whopping 20 different pesticides, and spinach had 1.8 times more pesticide residue by weight than any other crop.

On the other hand something with a thicker peel like avocado, corn on the cob or pineapple are the cleanest with less than 1 percent of samples showing any detectable pesticides.
